Cocktail and Our Grand Final

A.S.i.A had their annual cocktail on Friday night and it was ok. Had enough fun to warrant going out. I managed to catch the A.S.i.A committee's dance on video. I'll try post up the video if i have time through the week. Only got the beginning bit of the girls dance :) so stay in touch! And it'll be up!

But back to the begining. At Uncle Billy's with Emily, Dan, me, Kath, Niss and Lisa; my dishes i could eat were severly limited because I'm still vegetarian for a few more days. Tofu. Tofu. More Tofu. Some greens. Tofu. And Tofu.

The amount of tofu i've eaten in the last few months has been agonizing. More then i've probablly eaten in my whole life. Remember my seagull swallowing technique? Still got it. Maybe a bit more perfected. Dare i say it? Am i beginning to LIKE tofu? OF COURSE NOT!

A few piccies from Uncle Billy's.

[Peace! Kath and Me]

[Niss, Lisa and Kath]

[Dan and Alan NB: His not as pissed as you think]

A cameo appearence by Lisa's Chin Woo and Co friends made for a much more packed table then we originally thought. None the less, they helped finished the meat dishes because Kath and Niss aren't exactly carnivores. Plus they helped pay too; saved me a whole dollar and thirty three cents :)

Lining up for Cocktail took a loooong time. I can remember jumping into the line at 10:10. Waiting oh-so-patiently untill about 11.15 getting in. Probably even later. Thats more then an hr! And then to see Andy and Sean get VIP treatment?!?!? What a pair of hacks!

Hehehe I shut down some random girl good in the line because she kept whining, bumping and pushing into everyone. The transcript went a little something like this:

Random girl: I need to go to the toilet! x 223598732875
Alan: There's an alley way there
Random girl: As if! Where do you think my dignity is?
Alan: Twenty meters back there
Everyone: Ooooooh!! HAHAHAHAHA!!
Alan: ^_^

Super red-faced, she shut up. And she stopped pushing into us.

Anywho, got home around 3.30, took out my contacts and leaped into bed without bothering to undress. Too tired. I think it took me five seconds to find the sandman.

Woke up on Saturday at midday and almost missed the pre-game stuff for the Grand Final. Mind you, I was still in my jeans...

I didn't end up hanging with Jase like i planned but oh wells! Woke up feeling a bit crooked. At least he won the tipping. I think the final tipping scores were: 122 (me) to 123 (jase). One point :)

I'll analzyse the game a bit more later. Congrats to Embers for winning the Norm Smith. I personally thought Kerr was in good nick to steal it. Even Beau Waters was an outside chance.

Oh the irony of one point :)

From A-la-la-la-n Chung

PS: Another really creepy thing happened. Before going out and the game, my mum predicted WCE to win by 1 pt. She comes home and asks me: "They won by 1 pt didn't they?" She didn't even watch it!!

Chaz kept me alive

Yesterday in the Reid in Group Study Room 3:

Noelle: Hey Lisa is around. I'm off to find Lisa, I'll be right back.
(five minutes later, Noelle returns)
Nissa: Lisa not joining us to study?
Noelle: Nah...she said Alan is too distracting
Alan: No I'm not!
(Alan, Nissa and Shirlz read the personal ads laughing so very loudly for
next 45 minutes
)
Shirlz: I've done no work
Alan thinks: Totally understand now

HAHAHAHA!!

More importantly in the AFL world: A complicated tipping ladder together with brilliant tipping by yours truly and a heart stopping Brownlow count keeps me in contention for the pot of gold. Charlie (the Brownlow medal count) keeps me alive because Jase coulda won it all on Brownlow night. Too bad Westy. Too bad Jase ^_^

[Scott West = Jase = Runner up]

I tipped the Crow-bots to win it overall but if the Weagles wins then i'm dead and burried and Jase takes the prize. Either way I'm happy. Deep down I want Wet Toast to win it :) and stuff the pot of gold: a flag is the only way to celebrate an awesome year.

I'm footy dizzy atm, so here's another anaylsis I thought up.

[The Special Three]

Our strength has time and time again been in the midfield. Our Special Three (above) in Cousins (Endurance Machine), Judd (Explosive Playmaker) and Kerr (Tenacious Aggressor) truly gives us the best midfield in the competition because underlining our stars are a bunch of kick-ass midfielders who would win Club Champions anywhere else (Embers, Braun etc etc). Nobody can match us here except for the Dogs in about four years.

Further more it is a noted fact that we haveone of the most solid defensive units in the AFL. Our potential is far, FAR from reached because our forwards are beginning to look menacing. The style of bombing it long and hoping for a Lynch pack-split mark is good. It focuses on our midfield-strength to play high scores, risk and enjoyable play. I think we have the potential to win 3 consecutive premierships easily. Maybe more...

[The Spinal Three]

Our ultimate threat is the Swans and maybe one day the Hawks. No one ever seems to mention that Sydney have a special three as well: Goodes (All-Rounder), Hall (Power Forward) and L Barry (Defensive Maestro). While our special three is concentrated in our midfield they have a more 'Spinal' Three which Paul Roo's successfully built a team around. Goode's roams around the field creating havoc, Hall destroys defences with his leading and Barry...grrr...who can forget THAT mark?

It's unsurprsing that they are known as the working class team because their super-stars aren't that much greater then the rest of the 'Bloods'. Teamwork, quick on the counter-attack and short kicking game grinds them a win. Boring win too.

No doubt the Weagles and the 'Bloods' are the inverse of each other which is why we virtually cancel each other out most games ending in low scores. GF is on Saturday expect another titanic game. By the recent record its our turn to win. I got no work on saturday either :)

Come on Wet Toast!!! Errrrr I mean West Coast!!

Busy!!

Havn't been able to blog for a while, been busy doing Corp Acct. Assignment which i just finished on Thursday. Late nights chipped in to ensure I have been chronically tired for this week. I've had a lot of coffee this week to make up for it but its been sucky all arond uni:

Refresh Stall: My regular Coffee Girl is officially no longer there. Nor the Other Coffee Girl. The old asian woman there just doesn't make me wanna turn on the charm. And all these new faces make sucky coffee.

Reid Cafe: The mid-20's asian girl there really has it in for me. After accidentally throwing $2.20 at her, she's forever ensured that my coffee is poor. If i see her, I know its gonna be sucky.

Hacket Cafe: Sucks. Far FAR away and since i haven't been able to get parking near the Rec its not worth it.

Guild Cafe: Prolly the best by a marginal amount. The line at 3 in the arvo on Monday is a bit of a downer but i guess you can't win them all.

Mmmm...i hope whatever party wins the guild elections gets Starbucks to come to UWA. That'd make me vote for them easily. In fact stuff all this student protest nonsense, i just want STARBUCKS!

Anyways, with Corp Acct. outta the way, I'm staring downt he barrel of Company Law assignment due on the 28th. Thankfully I've begun grinding out some results for that and i'm not toooooo stressed. Such a daunting task; 3000 words! And then after that i got an october 8th deadline to meet with CPF.

The joys of uni life -_-"

Was anyone in the Reid today? At about middayish there was a huge fire-alarm and i reckon you could smell the gas from the ECOMS office. Or not. Thankfully I was on my way home anyway. I hate being at uni on a friday. Stupid Company Law tutor, I'm not in his tute normallyand he kept picking on me.

Tutor: I've seen you around alot. Your like a de facto student of mine. What do you think?
Alan: Um...i guess his liable under s180(1) and couldn't use Business Judgement rule as a defence
Tutor: You need to need to elaborate Aaron
Alan: Its Alan
Tutor: Yes...you need to elaborate Alan.

Good tutor though.

Shirlz had her birthday on the 20th, happy birthday punk. Hope you liked the tops and bag.

Did anyone know that Noelle has dimples?!?

From A-la-la-la-n Chung

PS: I also missed out on my red belt. I graded last sunday but my shockin spear form let me down. I gotta re-do it but otherwise it was ok. Andy and Phill and Sifu were the only ones there. So knackered afterwards.

Post-Ball Piccies

Got work tomorrow so only a few pictures. I'll do an indepth review later, if I got time. It was a good night. Very happy.

Enjoy these few piccies anyway. They speak more then words.

[Caroline, Noelle and Alan]

[Dan and Shirley]

[Connie and Kim]

[Jase, Me and Lisa]

[Sean, Me and Trev]

[Andy, Me and Choung]

[Nibba, Kab-legs and Me]

I can't be bothered uploading more either. They are HUGE pictures and it's an effort and a half to resize this many. I did SIX!

I'll burn a disk and it will float amongst the crew. You know the deal: first person i see is the first person i give it to.

Night

EDIT: Just for Caroline I added another pic. Oh and I'm gonna Photoshop some of these piccies. The lighting and shadows are horrendous. Easily fixed.

Randomness Post

This Sunday i'm gonna attempt for my red-belt. A nice way to finish of the holidays. I've officially made a start on all my assignments. CA, CL and CPF all have some substance down. Rejoice!

I'll just highlight some events of interest.

  • My mask isn't too comfortable so i think i might just do a Zorro one (cloth with holes in it) instead. We'll see what happens. Its not like i'll be wearing it for the whole night.
  • Got two new shirts and some cuff-links to accompany them. I'm pretty broke now. I'd post them up but i really can't be bothered.
  • Convinced Phil to give Jase and me a ride to the ball. Whoo-hoo!! Now for a ride back...
  • Stomach is feeling fine. It wasn't apendicitis! :)
  • At this very moment, 0.7% of the world is intoxicated. That's like 42 million people drunk!
I'm tired

In the Rain, So Much Pain

Today i went down to Jase's place to make my mask for the Ball. I had heaps of cool ideas of lion head patterns and flames but in the end I just couldn't be bothered and mine looks pretty much like Mr. Incredible's. The simplicy and elegence of the standard super-hero mask is priceless. Given also that i'll prolly just throw away my mask in 10 minutes after getting into the Ballroom. No...make that 5 minutes.

[Brilliant movie, awesome mask]

Anyway, after making our masks (Jase's looks more like the evil super-villian type) we went down to Morely Senior High to kick around the soccer ball. About halfway down to the school the rain started. By the time we were on the field, the rain was pretty heavy but because Perth weather is inconsistent, it cleared up in two minutes and the sun was shining. Jase's normally slick ball skills were absent as he slipped up on the wet turf.

I was really keen on playing in the rain. It felt like I was back in HS all over again, something about it all. A very nostalagic feeling. My feet was bright red from kicking the ball bare-footed too.

Some of you don't know but Phill needs to watch cartoons (Simpsons, Futurama, American Dad etc.) to get to sleep. Weird habit? Definetly. Weirder still..he sleeps with his eyes open! O_O

So I didn't think I had the same problem but at 7.30ish that night, I was lying on the couch and Futurama comes on. I wake up at about 10.30 realising the stupid cartoon made me fall asleep. Fry's voice is like a lullaby to me. I dont even remember closing my eyes or anything, last thing i remember is Fry and Bender and then...Zzzzz

I'm feeling very miserable at the moment too. My stomach is causing me no-end of grief, its the worst pain and it comes in random burst of 30 seconds. Whoever said emotional pain hurts more, clearly doesn't know how i'm feeling at the moment!

Happy birthday to my teeny-bopper sister who turns 15. She recieves tickets to the Russel Peters show.

In so much agony!! Please please dont be Appendicitis. Where are all my Med friends?

One Point

Finals footy makes me feel like a sports journalist. So expect to see this in the West Australian soemtime during the week ^_^

Another titanic game between the Weagles and the Short-kicking Swans. A collosal struggle for all four quarters highlighed West Coast's most glaring problem.

Pre-2006 it was our craptacular foward line structure. That's fixed now with Lynch up at FF and actually marking stuff. Hansen's leading and workrate is also pretty integral which might of been a reason why we loss (we need him, Staker is not a bonafide Centre Half Foward and cleary sucks at it).

So back to our glaring problem. Woosha (as great as he is) is stubborn and will not put numbers behind the ball. I'm not talking about flooding, I'm talking about the silliness of a 10 man foward line (because Sydney floods) and a resulting 2 man defence (eg: Glass and Hunter on Hall and O'Loughlin). Paul Roo's thoroughly out-coached him.

[Roo's tricked Woosha good: Hall leads up the ground taking Glass with him and O'Loughlin (above) makes Hunter responsible for 4 goals against him]

I'm no coach but anyone can see that were gonna get stung on the counter-attack. Glass is no doubt the All-Australian full back of 2006 but there is no way he can do it himself especially when Hall leads up the ground and leaves the WCE defence to the less competent Hunter. For the sake of trying something new, Woosha should seriously re-think the advantages of the loose man in defence when its such a tight game.

Glass is brillaint in the defensive 50m arc but he needs help if his gonna glue himself to Hall all day. Hall actually has an engine and can run upfield. And another thing...Graham at CHB is much better then Hunter. Send Hunter to the foward line and wait for it... LEAVE HIM THERE

Other then playing completely into Syndey's game plan, good work from the boys. Judd put on a freak show (34 possessions, 2 goals) and Cuz worked his heart out. If he doesn't finish with a flag and the accompanying Norm Smith medal then it would be like Geelong in the 90's (great team and no flags). Although the Saints are pretty much filling that role atm.

This is suppose to be our year. We got the potential to win 3 flags our premiership window, our best 22 is YOUNG. Our year isn't over but if we meet Syndey again in the GF...

Anyways, enough ranting about one measely point. Bulldogs vs Collingwood was brillaint game. means i get 1/4 for tipping this week. Also means i'm the outright leader.

And speaking of tight margins, tomorrow is my sisters bday. I'm looking for the present on the day. I'm brilliant so i know i can do it. I'll use my Cuz-workrate to find something.

End of Exams and a New Skin

Just about to hit the sack. A much deserved and rewarded sleep awaits me in my bed. But a few quick updates concerning the last few days and next week. It's back to the heading style (just for this post) because its just so much easier. Less flow but more structure I guess.

Exams

CPF was good, i answered everything with some half-decent confidence with little to no guessing. On the other hand i gotta organise my group over the coming week to delegate our assignment. Interestingly, while i was waiting around I bumped into the Lecturer and he said to me: "Pick (c) mate, alot of them are (c)" and surprise surprise, whethere sub-conciously or I'm right (I like to think I'm right), I got quite a few c answers.

MA was a bit more traumatic and I'm quite worried. Its worth 35%, which is ALOT considering i'm a Confuzzler in my tute with little contribution to the sessions. I better step it up after the break. The final is woth 50% of the unit O_O

Week Ahead...

Is non-teaching break which means MSU Masq Ball (still gotta get a mask) and ASIA Cocktail are around the corner. Expect photos. It also means I got an unfair load of assignments due by the end of the month. CPF, CA and CL all breathing down my break.

Only FIVE days left to train my heart out and focus on my forms. I've been running through the handsets at home but my weapons are a tad rusty.

West Coast vs. Sydney looks awesome too. Everyone seems to love Judd's explosive pace and ability to shrug tackles, but Cousins is better I reckon. Stamina-machine with brilliant distribution skills from the midfield/flanks. Not to mention everyone knows his the real-commander of the troops.

Blog Misc

As you might of noticed I got a new skin for this blog. How is this on the eyes? Comments are greatly appreciated. My browser is Firefox so it might be a little different to the IE people, i guess. Sidebar is still being adjusted too.

I also managed to find my site-metre and figured out how to move it. It had been hiding at the bottom of the blog for ages. 2500ish hits over 6 months? But in relative terms thats tiny compared to XioXue and Kennysia. Those guys all have waaaaay too much time on their hands.

I wish i did too =P

Much more aesthetic then the stars and the collage I think. Simpler too.

*Phew* All blogged out, Zzzz-leeep time.

mORe sTReSseD tHeN...

a metrosexuals new pre-stressed jeans.

Been doing heaps of study lately and a result is a lack of sleep with the corresponding increased stress.

The eye twitch has returned and I'm pretty much running off coffee and ice-cream. Fought off a cold on sunday night too which was another great achievement by me (no medicine either). My nose is a bit raw from the all tissues but at least I'm not sick. I can do my mid-sems

Anyways, I've reverted back to some of my old study habits. Which is using acronyms to remember some templates. Here is my favorite one for Process Costing with a FIFO method (Management Accounting 2203). This shows you how bored of studying i am.

Fishes = Flow of Production
Wont = Work in Process Beginning
Sleep = Started During the Period
Tonight = To Account for

Give a = Goods Completed
Woman = WIP Beginning
Something, Can't = Started and Completed
Expect = Ending WIP
Anything = Accounted For

Can't = Costs
Work = WIP Beginning
Can't = Costs Added
Think = Total Costs To Account
Don't = Divided by Equivalent Units
Eat = Equivalent Unit Costs

The last bit I just remembered like a normal person: A W C D C T S T W T C C

Quite funny no? Bear in mind, it's just how the words came out =P

As you can see, I'm going loco from the MA study, on the plus side CPF is looking a lot better. All my notes are up and now i gotta do tutorial consolidation ^_^ very pleased.

The latest reviews from the template are in, and alot of you seem unhappy with it. If thats the case I'll look into changing it. I've fixed the font issue but I haven't gotten around to fixing the banner and i managed to figure out some more css. Not that hard.

Really...only Shirly asked me to re-do the template. Since the world revolves around her then I guess I should change it. I wish you could get the eye rolling thing from MSN on blogger.

Anyone see Josh today? Make sure you catch him throughout the week. It's worth it.

4 Things I dont need but would like anyway

I re-edited the tile-banner and sorta merged it with the starry night one. Feels more like me and the other one was a bit cliche. The sidebar still needs editing but its on "the to list"

I had this post up in my drafts for a while and thought it would be nice to publish. Enjoy.

Today's technological leaps have often left me in the cold with out-dated first/second gen models which overtime i grow very attached to. My X700 was a good example, brilliant for the first week it came out. Useless the next with all its glitches, but i liked it anyways. So it got me thinking about things i don't need, but i'd like them anyway...

Canon IXUS 800IS

The new Canon IXUS 800IS *drooool* Just thinking of the 6 mega pixels and 6.5cm LCD screen makes me dizzy with happiness. Canon's hacking of useless features makes it ultra slim, silver and very modern. The 800IS has SOME use, but i've already got a "good-enuff" camera. I like to dream still. The new 800IS model exponentially outdates its predecessors especially making my trustworthy and loyal (often over-used) IXUS 50 a distant relic of the past. The 50 is only a year or so old too.

Reluctantly I'll keep my $799 and spend it on something else. Like the rumor of a 7mp IXUS...

Smart Watch: Dick Tracy Model

Probably slightly more useless but with a higher likeability is a Smart Watch. Remember Dick Tracy from the 90s? The detective in a canary yellow hate who spoke into his walkie-talkie watch? Well, MSN and Microsoft finally got their R&D geeks to develop that watch. Using SPOT (Smart Personal Object Technology) miniaturization and Silicon Valley labor; it basically brings the net to everyday objects. The geeks can finally take over the world with this.

Sure its chunky as hell but the first gen of these tykes gives access to news, weather, stock markets, horoscopes, 200 channels of stuff and wait for it: MSN Instant Messenger and SPORTS updates. A combination of sluggish lacklustre sales means its not to be released into Australia until the distant future.

Who cares? Dick Tracy model leads to increased cool factor. Where do i sign up?

So until then, Ill guess Ill keep the $179

O2 Xda Atom Pure

The limited edition Pure is basically the same as the standard O2 Atom, but it’s in WHITE. Supposedly only 1000 floating around makes it a mega incentive. With lots of the same applications and in WHITE I can finally put my brain to rest and rely totally on this pocket brain. It's use factor would be quite high then…

Putting the brain to rest: duhhh lemme check ma PDA, $1,229
Actually using my brain: Priceless

Omega 1932 Olympics Los Angeles Pocket Watch

Though not really a flashy modern 3-Chrono silver wristwatch worn by 007, this pocket watch has power is in it's history.

When Im rich and powerful under the pretense of “UN Scretrary General” a.k.a King of the World, Ive planned for this to be my ultimate vainity buy. Sorta like a crown for a King or helicopter for the President. But less symbolic and more useless.

The Omega 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Pocket Watch is the ultimate snub at the working classes of third world countries (wait: it might clash with my Smart Watch...eh, minor detail). In memory of the 1932 Olympics where it was used to time atheletes, Omega made only 1,932 available in the world. It’s valued at an affordable: $333,000. Yep, no greater vainity buy then this.

Back to study...

PS: Watcha think of this template anyway? Not the banner, the whole layout etc. The original star banner (for any who saw it), reminds me of Dwellingup Adventure Camp in Year 7; greatest camp of school.

Under Construction

The editing of this template is only half done at the moment

In the meantime it's gonna look like this.

I know its a little pansy.

But remember: I'm editing
